World Bank online resources (free access)
Recognizing that transparency and accountability are essential to development, the World Bank Group, starting from April 2010, provides free, open, and easy access to its comprehensive set of data on living standards around the globe—some 2,000 indicators, including hundreds that go back 50 years. The data is available in Arabic, French, and Spanish in addition to English.
Access to these resources is available at http://data.worldbank.org/, a central web site that makes it easier to find, use, and manipulate data. A data catalog lists the available databases. - Global Development Finance (GDF) Online (OR http://data.worldbank.org >> Data Catalog >> Global Development Finance)
Provides debt and financial flows indicators for over 100 countries that report debt to the World Bank Debtor Reporting System, from 1970 to 2012, where data are available. See also: List of Time Series Indicators included in GDF Online.
- Global Economic Monitor (GEM) (OR http://data.worldbank.org >> Data Catalog >> Global Economic Monitor)
GEM features up-to-date analysis on global economic conditions, including a daily brief and event-driven focus reports, direct access to high-frequency datasets (commodity price indicators, and quarterly and annual macroeconomic indicators), Online publications of forecasts for commodity prices and main macroeconomic indicators for over 130 countries.

The Documents and Reports database contains more than 14,000 World Bank documents which are made available to the public in order to better share the institution's knowledge base. Browsing or searching provides access to the documents in both text and downloadable .pdf format. Some paper copies may be available for sale in the VDIC.
- Projects Database
The Projects database includes detailed information of more than 9,500 World Bank projects from 1947 to present, including the full-text of all project documents published after 1993.

British Library of Development Studies (BLDS) databases and document delivery service. Materials from this library are provided through GDN/BLDS Document Delivery service. You can search the huge BLDS online catalogue of development related resources from your desktop, then request copies of articles you and your research colleagues need at the click of a button. Go to the British Library of Development Studies web site at http://blds.ids.ac.uk/blds/ and search the catalog for materials of your interest. Then send your request for articles or book chapters to the VDIC librarian at nvu2@worldbank.org. The requested materials will be emailed to you within one week.
